Current Ambassador to China
Farid Abboud has accomplished much in his four-decade career in diplomatic service for his home nation of Lebanon. However, he also has other significant experience in political service, as well as in academia since his first position with Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1974.
Currently, Mr. Abboud serves as the Lebanese Ambassador to China, where he has been since 2013. Before that, he spent six years as his country’s ambassador to Tunisia beginning in July 2007. That came after his record eight years as Lebanon’s ambassador between 1999 and 2007.
Throughout his long career,
Farid Abboud has served Lebanon in many other ways, including time as the assistant director-general of the Department of Political Affairs in the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and extensive service at Lebanese embassies in Rome, Moscow and London. He also served as Lebanon's General Counsel in Los Angeles from 1990-1995.
